Events, Updates and Reminders

Snake Saturday Parade

Kansas City Soldiers' Angels had a paint and paste party on Saturday in North Kansas City in preparation for the Snake Saturday Parade. We had six people cutting, pasting and painting. I have to say, the pot of gold and the signs look great. No bragging intended. Beccah, Dayna & Mike, Terri K. and Peggy did a fantastic job. We had a great get together. Everyone pitched. We had fun talking about our different experiences with supporting soldiers as well as became closer as a group. I'm very happy to call these folks, not only fellow members of SA, but friends. Creative friends at that.

We also made a video. Yes, as I recently warned in the forums, if you haven't had your video taken yet, you will.

The parade is March 10 in North Kansas City. We're looking forward to a good turn out. Time and place to meet will be announced (hopefully this week).

It's for a good cause. We're going to have a Kansas City Soldiers' Angels video to send to the troops. And, as you see here, we are posting the video snippets as individual clips to email links to the men and women we support and anyone else you like.

A special thanks to John at the Castle for giving us a space to advertise our video.

We're still looking for people to march with us. You just need to wear green and email your name to Kansas City Soldiers' Angels.

Wishes from Little Angels

On another note, at our last meeting on February 27, I spoke to Angel Julie about making note cards for messages to the troops. We talked about "Messages on the Wings of Angels" and some other applications. Well, Julie ran with it and came up with a label to put on 4 X 5 note card. Her version said is called, "Wishes from little Angels". Another Angel's mom is a music teacher and thought she could use the cards at school and have kids write messages to the troops.

I received some samples today and I was really impressed. We truly do have some creative Angels here. I can't wait to hear how the project works out. If you're interested in doing something similar, email Kansas City Soldiers' Angel and ask to have your message forwarded to Julie.

Poker Run June 3

We are also on track to meet again regarding our Poker Run for the Troops on June 3. The meeting will be at the American Legion Post 370 in Overland Park, KS, March 11 at 11 AM. The post is located on W. 75th St. just west of Metcalf.

There will be a breakfast that morning from 9am til noon. Breakfast will include an omelet made to your request, toast, hashed browns, bisquits and gravy, fruit, juice and coffee. All of the proceeds after cost will go to purchasing phone cards for troops supported by Soldiers Angels. Cost is $6 per person.

Ft. Ruckers Relief

Soldiers' Angels is still working on relief for military families of Ft. Rucker that was struck by a tornado. Many are families with deployed men and women. So, if you have time and something to give, please go to Soldiers' Angels Ft Rucker Relief to see what you can do.

Finally, don't miss our latest and greatest "Shout Out to the Troops".
